On Wednesday Aug. 30, 2023, we had a clear night for one of the biggest and brightest moons of the year. This full moon is referred to as a Super Blue Moon. This shot was taken from Waukesha Wisconsin (about 20 miles west of Milwaukee) at 10:45pm. The camera set up was:
- Mounted on a tripod
- Canon EOS 7D Mark II (1.6x crop sensor)
- Canon 100-400 IS II at 400mm
- Using a Canon 1.4x III Teleconverter
- Yield about 900mm or 20x magnification
- And then in post processing, it was cropped to about 1/3 the actual size providing another 3-4x magnification
I took about 128 photos and this was the best one (all of them were manually focused)
